Memorial Hospital of Gardena went through a mandatory assessment of the existing hospital as required by SB1953 for seismic safety. The conclusion was that the existing hospital did not meet the state requirements for an essential facility and upgrades were too costly and disruptive to operations. The master plan provided a program framework for the replacement hospital adjacent to the existing hospital. Site analysis and a cost model were included in the scope of services.
