Improvements to Rigler Elementary School included a new elevator, ADA upgrades, a new fire alarm and fire sprinkler system throughout, reroof of the main building from 1931, three smaller outer buildings and an addition from 1965.

In order to meet State Historic Preservation standards, the elevator and lobby on the third floor was required to match the adjacent context of the original 1931 buildings brick and terra-cotta tile roof.
