The City of Portland Archives and Records Management is responsible for developing records retention and deposition schedules for all city agencies, records storage, preservation of historical records, and provision of reference and retrieval services for the general public and City employees. In 2005, OHP+D began working with the City in assessing the growth of the archives and records storage over a 10 year planning horizon. The planning study resulted in a new location with the capacity to meet future needs. OHP+D continued to work with the City in the design and layout for the archives to optimize flexibility and adaptability. The program included a reading room, flexible office space and climate controlled archives storage to NARA standards. Ongoing projects included the design of a custom map table and additional FFE services. The project was designed to meet the City of Portland requirement of LEED Silver equivalent.
